Tanabata 2009 FAQ

Q: I am not sure I can learn how to make a kazari from a video. Can someone teach me?
A: There will be several workshops held to teach people how to put together their kazari. Please click on Calendar to see the workshop schedule.
A: No refunds, unfortunately. The cost of ordering and shipping paper from Japan, and other materials are primarily covered by sponsors. The $25 that you pay covers only a portion of costs, so no refunds can be given. sorry.
Q: The Tanabata Kit mentions choosing paper colors for flowers and streamers. What colors are available?
A: We have a variety of colors and designs, which are available on a First Come, First Served basis.
Q: If the colors I want aren't available, can I get the paper myself? Where?
A: If you get your own paper, it will be at your own expense.
Q: Can I make my kazari larger / smaller than specified? What is the length limit.
A: Yes, the longest you can make your kazari is 7 feet (from top to bottom). The package comes to 6 feet. The ball should be 12" in diameter, as specified in the Tanabata kit.
Q: Can I add my own decorations to the strips?
A: Yes, many groups add glitter, sparkles, stickers, shiny decals on their strips.
Q: What happens to our kazari after the Festival?
A:We will ask each group to come and pick them up. Those not picked up by the specified date will probably be donated or destroyed.
